Privacy notice

In short: what you type to make your deed poll isn’t kept. If you ask for a copy by email, we keep your email address and the names for 12 months, and we never use them for marketing.

Who we are

Free Deed Poll (freedeedpoll.com) is run by Change Your Name t/a Easy Deed Polls, the business behind changeyourname.co.uk. We’re the data controller for the information described here. Our address is Unit 142244, PO Box 7169, Poole, Dorset, BH15 9EL, and you can reach us through the support form at changeyourname.co.uk.

The details you type

When you make a deed poll, the names, address and dates you enter are used in your browser to show the preview. Printing happens entirely in your browser too.

When you download the PDF, those details are sent to our server, which builds the file and sends it straight back. The server doesn’t keep a copy and doesn’t write your details to any log.

What we keep

For each deed poll made, we keep a short record of when it was made, whether it was for an adult or a child, and whether it was downloaded, printed or emailed. It doesn’t include your name, your address or anything else that identifies you. We use these counts to understand how the site is used.

If you ask us to email you a copy, we also keep your email address, the old and new names on the deed poll, and whether the email went through. We use them to send that one email, and to see whether people who asked for a copy later use changeyourname.co.uk’s paid service. We never use them for marketing and never pass them to anyone else.

Email addresses and names are deleted after 12 months. The anonymous counts are kept.

To protect the site from misuse, we also keep a scrambled version of your IP address for up to a day, to limit how many PDFs and emails can be requested in a short time. It can’t be turned back into your address.
